Nainital is a popular hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and headquarters of Nainital district in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas.Nainital is set in a valley containing a pear-shaped lake, approximately two miles in circumference, and surrounded by mountains. From the tops of the higher peaks, "magnificent views can be obtained of the vast plain to the south, or of the mass of tangled ridges lying north, bounded by the great snowy range which forms the central axis of the Himalayas.

Located in the Kumaon region in Uttarakhand, Almora is famous for its wildlife, culture and cuisines. The town is located at an average elevation of 1,646 meters above sea level and was known as ‘Rajapur’ during the reign of the Chand kings. The town is surrounded by thick forests of pine and fir trees and was visited by Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda who have mentioned Almora in their writings. Unlike the neighboring hill stations like Nainital and Shimla which were developed by the British, Almora was developed by the Kumaoni people. The town is also known as the town of temples.

Devalgarh is situated in Pauri district. It has a different significance in the history of Uttarakhand. This place is one of important places of Nath sect (Nath Samparday). Two temples in Devalgarh, Gaura Devi and Maa Raj Rajeshwari, also has their importance. Gaura Devi is Kuldevi of nearby village Sumari and Maa Raj Rajeshwari is Kuldevi of Garhwal king Panwar dynasty and many Garhwali dynasties.
